A small introduction about you ✨
My name is Joan Manel Cardenas, and I’m 26 years old. I was born in Barcelona, where I studied Telecommunications Engineering at UPC. During my master’s degree, I specialized in Deep Learning, and that’s when I realized this is the field I want to focus my career on. Now, a year later, I’m excited to start this incredible opportunity as a Machine Learning Engineer here at MVST!
Outside of work, I’m passionate about sports and cinema. Lately, I’ve been working towards becoming a basketball coach.
If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be and why?
If I could instantly become an expert in something, it would definitely be Artificial Intelligence. AI has so much potential to transform our world into a better place by simplifying complex tasks and making life easier for everyone. Mastering it would enable me to create innovative solutions and contribute even more to this exciting field.
If you could invent a product or service that would make people's lives better, what would it be?
I’d create an individual medical tracker powered by AI. In my experience working on AI and healthcare-related projects, I’ve seen how valuable AI can be in improving lives. We generate so much data daily, but most of it goes unused.
With a medical tracker, this data could be collected and analyzed to provide personalized advice—for example, tips to improve sleep, recommendations for stress relief, or even activity suggestions tailored to relaxation. On a deeper level, it could help prevent degenerative diseases or detect potential health issues early on. It’s a solution that could truly make a difference in people’s lives.
Do you have any helpful advice for people that want to pursue the same career as you?
My biggest advice is to take initiative and learn as much as possible on your own. AI is such a fast-evolving field that the best way to stay ahead is by building your own projects, experimenting with different approaches, and learning from the process.
By creating your own projects, you’ll not only develop technical skills but also gain a better understanding of what you enjoy most about the field.
