Tell Us About Yourself!
My name is Julia, and I am a UX designer with approximately three years of experience. I graduated from a university in Hof, Germany, with a degree in Communication Design. I have previously worked with companies such as SAP on their Customer/User Experience Team, the space and exhibition design agency Atelier Markgraph, where I had the opportunity to work with prominent clients like Mercedes-Benz and the German Football Association, and Lingner Marketing GmbH, where the primary client is the Norma supermarket chain. Design has always been my passion, and today, I help create design solutions that bridge the gap between business objectives and human needs.
What do you do to provide yourself a good work-life balance?
To ensure a good work-life balance, I prioritize setting clear boundaries between work and personal time. I make sure to dedicate time to regular exercise, which helps me stay energized and focused. Additionally, I practice mindfulness and meditation to manage stress effectively. I also value spending quality time with family and friends, which helps me recharge and maintain a positive outlook. By managing my time efficiently and prioritizing self-care, I can maintain a healthy balance between my professional and personal life.
What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement so far?
One of my greatest professional achievements was leading a UX/UI design project for a major exhibition in Munich for Mercedes-Benz. This project involved working with a large multidisciplinary team, including architects, engineers, and marketing professionals. We developed an interactive, engaging exhibition that showcased Mercedes-Benz’s innovative technologies and designs. The project required extensive coordination and collaboration, as well as a creative approach to integrating various elements into a cohesive user experience. Seeing the final result come to life and receiving positive feedback from both the client and visitors was incredibly rewarding. Witnessing how much can be accomplished when many people work together towards a common goal was truly inspiring.
What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done, and what did you learn from it?
The most adventurous thing I've ever done was deciding to move to Thailand for five months to live and work from there. This experience was transformative for me in many ways. It taught me to be more open to new experiences and to embrace the unknown without fear. Living in a completely different culture made me realize how diverse the world is and how much we can learn from interacting with people from different backgrounds. It also reinforced the importance of flexibility and adaptability, as I had to navigate various challenges and unfamiliar situations. Overall, this adventure broadened my horizons and gave me a deeper appreciation for the richness of our world and the value of stepping out of my comfort zone.
