MVST x Aeco: Building a New Standard for Environmental Restoration

It’s not every day that a company takes on the ambitious task of restoring Europe’s peatlands, but Aeco has set out to do just that. Their mission is so unique that we even had to dive deep into research to fully understand the complexities of peatland restoration—talk about a topic that keeps us on our toes!

This is also our second collaboration with Aeco’s co-founder, reflecting the strong working relationship and trust that we’ve built over time.

Since May 2024, we’ve worked closely with Aeco to ensure that their digital platform reflects their bold vision.

Through UX/UI design, software development, and product management, we built a user-centered web app that supports peatland restoration, providing an intuitive experience for landowners, corporations, and investors.

Aeco’s web app supports every phase of their peatland restoration projects, enabling seamless collaboration and tracking:

Sourcing: Partners collaborate to identify projects, assess feasibility through digital models, and conduct on-site visits.
Development: The app models construction needs, calculates costs, risks, and estimates CO2 reduction potential.
Financing: Business models are created in coordination with landowners, covering development costs and ensuring project viability.
Sales: CO2 certificates and co-benefits are marketed to industry partners, generating both environmental and financial returns.
Monitoring: Ongoing digital monitoring tracks progress, with third-party validation ensuring project success.

These features ensure that stakeholders can participate meaningfully in the restoration process while staying informed about the projects’ contributions to climate change mitigation.
