Octopus Energy IOGO – Smart Charging for E-Cars
In April 2024, MVST partnered with Octopus Energy to launch their latest product offering in Germany: Intelligent Octopus Go (IOGO). This smart electricity contract is designed specifically for electric vehicle (EV) owners, helping them charge their vehicles at the cheapest times during the night, optimizing both energy usage and costs.
Our role was to design and develop a conversion-optimized landing page for IOGO. The page is designed to help users check the compatibility of their electric vehicle or wallbox (charging station) with the Intelligent Octopus Go plan and guide them toward the best smart charging solution.

The Solution
We developed a dynamic landing page hosted on the iogo subdomain, designed to guide users through two key journeys:
- Intelligent Octopus Go Compatibility Check:
The primary feature of the page is a compatibility check that allows users to see if their electric car or wallbox is compatible with the Intelligent Octopus Go plan. This plan automatically charges their vehicle at the cheapest electricity rates available during the night. If their system is compatible, they can proceed to get a tailored offer. - Fallback to Octopus Go:
For users whose electric vehicle or wallbox is not compatible with Intelligent Octopus Go, we built a seamless fallback mechanism. These users are guided to the Octopus Go plan, which still provides access to cost-effective, off-peak charging times, ensuring that they get the cheapest charging options available.
Both tariff options deliver the same core benefit: charging the EV at the lowest possible electricity rates during off-peak hours. The landing page provided clear information about the pricing benefits, making it easy for users to understand the value of each plan.
A critical part of the project was the continuous iteration of the funnel based on real-time user data and feedback. This allowed us to optimize the user journey, simplify decision-making, and improve conversions.
The Results
The launch of the IOGO landing page was highly successful. The compatibility check feature helped users quickly determine their eligibility for Intelligent Octopus Go, while the fallback to Octopus Go ensured that everyone could access affordable charging options.
By iterating rapidly and refining the funnel based on user data, we achieved a significant boost in conversions. Users appreciated the clarity and simplicity of the landing page, which helped them understand the cost-saving potential of smart charging at off-peak times.
Both Intelligent Octopus Go and Octopus Go are now empowering EV owners in Germany to charge their cars more affordably, and Octopus Energy is benefiting from a streamlined, high-converting digital funnel that effectively drives customer engagement.
